Hello, this is Neil's blog - mostly about looking for interesting things in life, which I like to photograph. It's slow blogging, so updates can be sporadic. Click on any photo to see the full size version.

Lattice tower wind turbine - about 150 metres tall

I found this out walking today in the Black Forest - beautifully strange, and strangely beautiful.  And almost twice the height and size of the (arguably pretty big) turbines you see elsewhere.  I counted the steel trusses after measuring the height by standing against them - this is about the same height as a 30 storey tower block.  It had the brake on for maintenance work but it was pretty windy.  Every now and then the brake would slip and the whole thing would make a wonderful brief unworldly sound.
